Where in Love County can you get a CT scan at 8 p.m. on a Sunday? You can get one in Marietta, on the same Wanda Street campus where the hospital building has been empty since April 2024.
The F4 tornado that hit Marietta's west side on April 27, 2024 left the main Mercy Health Love County building at 300 Wanda Street unusable. Two and a half years later the hospital's September update still called it a "decaying hulk." The same update says that in the past two years nearly every service once housed inside it has reopened in a new or renovated space on campus. Some of those services now keep longer hours than before, including weekends.
So the Marietta hospital has been rebuilt as a campus that handles emergencies and daytime care, with evening imaging every day. The piece it still lacks is beds. Whether and when they come back depends on one federal decision.
The Building on Wanda Street and the Buildings Around It
Hospital CEO and administrator Scott Callender summed it up in the hospital's September 2026 update: "We have everything back except inpatient care and infusions."
That recovery happened building by building. According to the hospital's two-year anniversary report, some buildings were repaired, some repurposed, some torn down as damaged beyond repair, and the 2,500-square-foot Emergency Room was built new. The order it happened in shows how the campus was rebuilt:
- June 2024: The clinic building reopened after repairs. Clinicians had already been reaching patients by phone and virtual visits within three days of the tornado.
- July 2024: The Therapy Building reopened. The former Adult Day Center on Wanda Street became the hospital's administrative offices.
- July 2025: The Food Pantry reopened in a former car dealership at 1100 Memorial Drive.
- September 2025: The temporary ER opened with three treatment rooms, a trauma bay, a new helipad, a 128-slice CT scanner and lab services. Dr. Jordan Paslay was named ER director.
- January 2026: Medics moved into EMS Station 1 in the former Growers Market. The renovated building has nine sleeping rooms and indoor ambulance parking.
- February 2026: Outpatient radiology reopened with new X-ray equipment in a new suite inside the Therapy Building.
KXII covered the ER opening in September 2025. It reported then that most pre-tornado services were back and inpatient care was not. A year later, that is still the situation.
Where Each Service Is Now, and When It's Open
This is the schedule the hospital published in September 2026. The physical therapy hours come from its October 30 therapy story, which is the more recent of the two.

The pantry got an upgrade along the way. Southern Oklahoma Memorial Foundation paid for a $50,000 walk-in cooler-freezer for the new Memorial Drive space.
Why 9 p.m. Matters in a County Without Beds
The radiology row is the one that changed most this year. When the X-ray rooms in the Therapy Building opened on February 9, 2026, the hospital said local patients had been driving to Mercy Hospital Ardmore for X-rays while Marietta's service was down.
Six months later the hours got much longer. Since August 1, 2026, outpatient X-ray and CT have been available from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day. That includes clinic patients and patients sent by doctors outside the hospital. A Love County patient whose Gainesville or Ardmore doctor orders a scan can book it in Marietta on a Saturday evening, at the end of a workday.
With no beds on campus, Mercy Health Love County has spent two years building up the ER, imaging, and weekday clinic and therapy visits. It added a full-time ultrasound sonographer in March 2026. It also kept rehab going. The Therapy Building reopened on July 1, 2024. Patients there recover from surgery, fractures, joint replacements, falls and balance problems, with most coming in for one hour twice a week.
The Ambulance Side Kept Growing Too
Emergency response is the other part that doesn't need a bed, and it has expanded too. Mercy Health Love County has run the county's EMS since 1994. Love County EMS is the country's first hospital-managed EMS to form a fire brigade.
At its July 20, 2026 meeting, the Love County EMS District Board showed off the newest ambulance in the fleet. It is the first one with an Auto Loader, an electric lift that raises and lowers the patient stretcher. It is also the most expensive ambulance the county has ever bought, and the Chickasaw Nation contributed $400,000 to cover the full cost.
The Chickasaw Nation partnership also pays for coverage outside Marietta. EMS Station 2 and a fire brigade at WinStar answer medical calls and help on fire calls along I-35 from the Red River to Exit 15. Station 1 sits on the hospital grounds in Marietta. Every ambulance carries at least one paramedic on every call, under the EMS Board's Advanced Life Support license. Dustin Michael, a longtime Marietta Volunteer Fire Department chief, was named EMS Manager in December 2025.
What Still Means a Drive Out of County
Here is what the campus can't do yet, according to the hospital's own updates:
- Inpatient care. No overnight beds on campus.
- Infusions. Still unavailable.
- Occupational therapy, speech therapy and inpatient rehab. Jeri Gill McKenzie, PT, co-owner of Odyssey Health Care, the Ardmore company that staffs the program, said services have been limited to physical therapy since the tornado. She said these three return when a new hospital opens.
Mercy Hospital Ardmore, at 1011 14th Avenue Northwest, is a 190-licensed-bed full-service tertiary hospital. It is also where Marietta patients went for X-rays before February.
One FEMA Decision Holds Up the Rest
The rebuild depends on FEMA. According to the hospital's May 2026 report, FEMA assessors still have to decide whether to pay to repair the damaged hospital or approve a completely new building on the same site. Board of Control chairman Richard Barker said, "Our goal is to have private beds and 25 of them as before, but the dollars allotted by FEMA will determine all of that."
The builders are already hired. Devenney Group of Dallas is the architect and Layton Construction of Dallas is the builder. "The day we get a 'go' from FEMA, they are beginning," Callender said. Barker said Congressman Tom Cole's office stepped in to help the hospital finish its work with FEMA. He also said turnover among FEMA representatives had redirected the hospital many times. KXII reported in September 2025 that three different FEMA project managers had been assigned to the case by then.
KXII reported in May 2026 that the old building had been declared a public danger and that officials considered it unsafe to repair. They put demolition at about $500,000 and expected a stronger replacement on the same site, with FEMA help on construction. The hospital is aiming for full 75% reimbursement of eligible costs under FEMA's Public Assistance Program, which covers debris removal and repairing or replacing damaged hospitals.
In anticipation of renewed hospital services, administrators have toured other hospitals for ideas on how to lay out departments, and Callender said front-line staff in those departments will have a say. The Social Services building on Wanda Street was getting final touches on its front this spring. The hospital invited Lighthouse Behavioral Health of Ardmore and the Ardmore office of the Department of Human Services to return to Marietta, part-time or full-time, in its rent-free office space.
According to the hospital's September schedule, the ER runs around the clock and X-ray and CT are open until 9 p.m. every day, while the old building at 300 Wanda Street waits on FEMA.
When I walk land in Love County with buyers, one of the first practical questions is how far a property is from the ER, the ambulance stations and imaging. On these fence lines, that distance is part of how a place works day to day. If you're looking at acreage around Marietta or Thackerville and want a clear read on what's within reach, let's connect. Lauren McCambridge can help you start your property search or get a valuation on the place you already own.
